#310 After Prim died, the doctors said Katniss had lost her voice from shock. Although she eventually began to speak again, she never sung from that point on. Without Prim, she felt she had no one to sing to. It wasn’t until her daughter was born that Katniss hummed a few notes. As the days went on, the humming would last longer and longer until one night her daughter was crying, and for the first time in years, Katniss sung a complete lullaby to her. The old lullaby from her childhood that mothers would sing to hungry babies to soothe them. The same lullaby she sung to Rue as she died. It sounded so sweet and peaceful along with the happy gurgling of her baby. Even Peeta was lucky enough to hear it, standing behind the door, out of sight with his eyes closed and a smile on his face.
